Mark Fucich - Descote SAS
August Member Spotlight - Mark Fucich (Descote SAS)
CI: Tell us a little about yourself, and what you do.
Current role: Director and President Descote Inc.
Education: Bachelor of Business Administration - Marketing - Louisiana State University USA 1981
In 1985 I received a call from friends/clients working for the Chlorine Producers PPG, Oxy and Dow. Each client said we met a French man named Jean-Pierre Richer who has developed “the valve” that our industry needs for isolation and control of dry liquid and gas chlorine. My partners and I were on a plane two weeks later for the purpose of becoming Descote’s partner in North America. For a thirty-seven-year period I’ve maintained an affiliation with Descote Valves in many roles including, direct and indirect, servicing CI mission chemical producers and consumers in North America.
CI: What is something interesting about you that few would know or guess?
I had strong interest in working for The Chlorine Institute in the late 1990’s.
CI: Tell us about your favorite CI memory or success story.
Too many GREAT memories to pick one however my greatest success story was to have nominated a person that ultimately was the recipient of the Peter M. Mayo Award.
CI: What do you value most from your CI membership?
The fellowship with so many quality people dedicated to the safe handling of the mission chemicals.
CI: What advice do you have for early career professionals in the chlor-alkali industry?
Participate in as many opportunities CI provides related to the safe handling of the mission chemicals. Pamphlet development and updating, task forces and training. All your efforts in these areas will help you create value with your employer and build your personal brand.
