Member Spotlight,

February Member Spotlight – Lloyd Moore (Kemira Chemicals, Inc.)

CI: Tell us a little about yourself, and what you do?

I have been working in the transportation sector for almost 48 years, 22 years with Kemira. During my tenure with Kemira, I have managed logistics operations and roles within our EHSQ Group. I am now part of our Global EHSQ Team and currently manage Transportation Safety for the Americas for all modes. Prior to Kemira, I worked in a family business that involved trucking, construction, and aggregate quarry operations.

CI: When did you first become involved at CI? What activities have you been involved in at CI?

I have been involved with CI for approximately 7 years. During this time, I have participated in CI functions/annual meetings, pamphlet reviews, and several task groups.

CI: What is something interesting about you that few would know or guess?

I am an aviation enthusiast. A friend of mine has a floatplane and he and I have made several flights to the Northern Ontario wilderness. I have also had some flying lessons.

CI: Tell us about your favorite CI memory or success story.

One of my fondest memories was attending the annual CI meeting in New Orleans in 2017. It was nice to experience the local culture. Also, I have memories of all the good people I met at that meeting and subsequent meetings over the years.

CI: What do you value most from your CI membership?

Networking with professionals, the vast resources that CI provides, and the opportunity to contribute as a stakeholder to make a difference.

CI: What advice do you have for early-career professionals in the chlor-alkali industry?

My advice to early professionals is to dream big, learn all you can, never be afraid to ask questions, and be the best you can be!
